Chair - Eileen Barber

Eileen Barber 

Eileen is currently a teacher and the Creative Arts Coordinator in Oakgrove Integrated Primary School, Londonderry.  Having  worked in this school for twenty years and has been the CA Coordinator for the last ten years.  As CA Coordinator, Eileen is responsible for designing, coordinating and implementing schemes of work, extra curricular programs and special events/ projects/ functions.

Eileen studied Art and Design at college and has been involved in many musical productions in the past.  Currently a member of the Altnagelvin Hospital Choir and continues to be involved with productions/ concerts.  Eileen has organised/ produced many shows/ events at school, most recently a “Multi-Cultural Night” at The Venue 2013, as part of the annual Integration Week celebrations.  Eileen is also in charge of a Creative Arts budget and prepares budget requests and monitor expenditures during the school year.


Vice Chair - Brenda Hume Stevenson

Brenda Hume Stevenson

Brenda Hume Stevenson, a former Thornhill College pupil and Queen's University Belfast graduate, Brenda has been employed as a Speech and Language Therapy Instructor with the Western Trust for over 12 years and was the City's Mayor in 2014.  Brenda is also the Chairperson of the Amelia Earhart Legacy Association.


Treasurer - Mr Brendan Dowdell

Brendan Dowdell 

Brendan has just recently retired and was involved in banking since 1975, working in a number of different areas of AIB/FTB.  A manager since 1993, managing different branches and departments specialising in business lending and development as well as managing large teams of people and looking after the various aspects of running a retail bank branch. Also was responsible for the areas from Coleraine, through Derry to Strabane (4 branches).  Brendan's main functions at work were business development (particularly business lending), operational management across the above area (with some responsibilities at a Northern Ireland network level), motivation, guidance and performance management of 40 management and staff.

Brendan has been as Associate member for 20 years of Greysteel Community Enterprises, an unlimited company community group which has developed the Vale Centre facilities (Sports Hall, playing fields, 3 G Pitch, Retail and Industrial Units) at Greysteel.   A member of the North West leadership team of Business in the Community and has recently taken up a position on the Northern Ireland 'Place Team' of Business in the Community, which primarily promotes good Corporate Social Responsibility focussing in on 3 key areas of regenerating deprived areas, young people and schools and social enterprise.

Brendan's qualifications include a Professional Banking Diploma, Level 5 NVQ in Operations and a MBA for Financial Specialists from Manchester University.


Anne McTaggart 


Anne has worked in a senior management role with YouthAction Northern Ireland for over 12 years.  As a leading youth development organisation, the charity works with young people to support them as active and equal citizens whose voices are heard, respected and valued.  The arts is one of the key areas of their work, with their Rainbow Factory School of Performing Arts providing a comprehensive annual programme of productions, outreach work, peer training and issue based models of practice. 

Anne organises a wide variety of events; manages social media; supports team leaders in developing projects and researches; applies for and secures funding from a range of sources including statutory and non-statutory, organisations, corporates, trusts and foundations.  She is also highly skilled in general, project and financial management.  Living and working in Derry-Londonderry, Anne has vast knowledge of the local business, voluntary and community sector.

Previously Anne has worked for a leading cancer charity managing a wide range of fundraising events.  She also worked for 16 years setting up and managing youth and adult job training schemes.


Ian Crowe

Ian Crowe

Managing Director of CPC Office Supplies Ltd based in Derry-Londonderry, Past President of Londonderry Chamber of Commerce, 2007 - 2009, High Sherriff of Londonderry 2009 and current Deputy Lieutenant of the Borough of the City of Londonderry.  Ian is also the non-executive Chairman of Air Ambulance Northern Ireland, non-executive director of the International School for Peace Studies and also CCi the Derry-Londonderry Town centre Management Company.  Ian's interest outside of his work commitments is his association with rugby where he represented Ulster in the late 70's and early 80's and is a current Trustee and past Chairman 1994 -1997 and President of City of Derry RFC 2012-2013.


Martine Mulherne

Martine qualified as a science teacher in 1988 and took up her first teaching position in St. Mary’s College, Derry in September of that year.   Having spent the next 24 years of her teaching career in St. Mary’s holding promoted posts of responsibility for: Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, Pastoral Head of Sixth Form, Head of Science, Director of Specialist Schools’ Programme and in the last 5 years held the post of Vice Principal.  With a strong commitment to cross community work and, from 2007 until 2012,  led the St. Mary’s Sharing Education Programme / Contested Space Programme – a curricular based cross community programme in partnership with Lisneal College.

In September 2012 Martine was appointed as Principal of St. Cecilia’s College, Derry.  St. Cecilia’s was designated a Specialist School of Performing Arts in 2006 and continues to be recognised for excellence in this area. St Cecilia's is an active contributor to local and national developments within the area of Performing Arts and encourages young people to pursue this study beyond 16.  It is currently the only school in the North West that offers dance as an option at both KS4 and post 16!
