Great Variety for Autumn 2017 at Waterside Theatre

 

The Waterside Theatre hosts a range of quality arts and entertainment throughout the year such as drama, dance, comedy, live music, cinema and children's theatre.

The new Autumn 2017 programme is getting underway, and there is an abundance of great drama this season beginning with an emotional rollercoaster ride through the life of, Robin Williams – The Laughter and The Tears.  We are also absolutely delighted to have Shakespeare Schools Festival, the UK’s largest youth drama festival return to the Waterside Theatre, and new theatre company Hydra are performing Games Night.   Fresh from the 2017 Edinburgh Fringe Festival the Makey Uppers with Alternative Bedtime Stories, and New York based Resolve Production presents Misterman, on their short Irish tour.  There is also a great comedy show with the internet sensations that are Nuala and NoleenIt’s Wine O’Clock!

Children’s shows at the Waterside Theatre have never been better, with PEEK-A-BOOK Children’s Literature Festival starting in October. The PEEK-A-BOOK Children’s Literature Festival will host Myra Zepf, Children’s Writing Fellow and Kes Gray, the author of the bestselling Daisy books, Nelly the Monster sitter books and the award-winning Billy Bucket.  Muliti-award winning Cahoots NI presents The Assistants Revenge, while Barking Dog Theatre Company presents Teddy’s Day on the Farm and the classic tale The Wind in the Willows.   Boogie with Jo, Big Goldilocks and the three bears plus….and Lyngo and CBeebies Patrick Lynch present Hansel & Gretel whichare all part of the Festival.  Family Halloween cinema is Lego-Scooby Doo! Haunted Hollywood and The Boss Baby.  Jackula is another fun magic and juggling show for the whole family, as he tries to become the world’s most magical vampire! 

There is a great variety of music at the theatre with Gavin Povey & The Oke-She-Moke-She-Pops who have performed and toured with artists such as Van Morrison, Outlaw Country Show  - a must see for fans of American Country!   Monsters of Metal, Lore and Schools Orchestra Winter Concert all add to the theatre’s fantastic music line-up!

Rochesters ABC presents An Evening of Boxing and there is even more variety with Michael Henry: Psychic Medium making a popular return.  The Waterside Theatre is also hosting Into Film Festival, an annual celebration of film and education for schools and young people across the UK.  There are also talks from mountaineer Simon Yates, My Mountain Life and The Adventures of Andy Kershaw, former BBC Radio 1 DJ.   Also ‘Cascade Gallery’, at the Waterside Theatre,will be showing work from artists NOWNOW (North of West Network of Women) and Amy Guilfoyle.   Panto this year as ever from the magnificent Grove Theatre Group is Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs and running from 8th – 20th December!
