A Word From Our CEO, Iain Barr
We are disappointed that we are still not allowed to stage live performances, but we will be excited to welcome you back to the Waterside Theatre this Autumn with a host of “big screen” productions to transport you across the globe.
Come with us to London and New York on Thursday nights in October to experience original musical productions from the West End and Broadway. We kick off the season with the smash-hit Hamilton, the story of American founding father Alexander Hamilton, featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B, and show tunes. Recorded live at the Richard Rodgers Theater on Broadway this production created a revolutionary moment in theatre and had a profound impact on culture, politics, and education.
We will also be continuing our exciting programme of screened opera and ballet events from some of Europe’s most spectacular venues. Three Tenors: Voices for Eternity celebrates the 30th anniversary of the legendary classical concert that changed the music industry forever, when Luciano Pavarotti, José Carreras and Plácido Domingo made their historic debut as the Three Tenors at the ancient baths of Caracalla during the 1990 Football World Cup. With brand-new interviews and never-before-seen backstage footage, the film offers a fascinating insight into the rivalries and friendships of the legendary opera stars from 1990 through to Pavarotti's passing in 2007.
We will be jetting you to India in November when our season of Hindi-language movies commences with Gulabo Sitabo. This comedy-drama sees two slimy scheming foxes from different generations compete in a game of one-upmanship that combines to produce chaos. All movies will have English subtitles so why not come along and witness the spectacular that is Bollywood cinema – you won’t be disappointed.
And we can’t forget a treat for our younger audiences, so we will be screening a season of fabulous live-action and animated movies for the whole family to enjoy. First of which Trolls World Tour will take you to six different lands devoted to six different kinds of music, as Queen Poppy and her friends return to save all the Trolls from the Queen of Hard Rock Trolls!
In line with Covid-19 guidance for re-opening, Waterside Theatre has been deep-cleaned from top to bottom and will be thoroughly cleaned after each performance. We will have hand sanitisation points throughout the venue, be operating a one-way system and face coverings will be mandatory inside the building. To ensure social distancing measures are in place during performances, for the safety of visitors and staff, bookings for all events must be done in advance through our Box Office on 02871314000 or email@example.com
